Wilderness Week in summer lapland
A week full of Lapland delights, culture, history and lots of nature. Wilderness Week is a smorgasbord of experiences such as stone-age styled cooking, close encounters with reindeers, forest walks, Sami stories, berry picking and own personal time in deep forests and the extensive moors of northern Sweden.
One highlight of the week is the hike with reindeers up to the nearby summit of Solberget. The summit offers a magnificent view of the northern landscape and this is the place chosen for the evening's barbecue feast, and after a while, a Sami guide shows up to tell about Sami culture and everyday life.
Another highlight is the stone age cooking experience. Together with the guide of Vildmarksbyn, you will learn how to cook salmon using a cooking pit, this is truly a culinary adventure and a journey of time to ancient cuisine. It is also possible to pick berries, and make your own marmalade or jam for some delicious memorabilia from the summer's northern adventure.
You will also have time to learn sami-crafts in different local materials and you will have a lot of your own free time for forest walks, bicycle explorations or a trip to Jokkmokk for a visit to Ájtte - the Sami centre.
