Hike The High Coast
Discover the High Coast World Heritage area on foot and with a light pack on your back. Here the ice pack was the thickest 20 000 years ago, and this area has the world record in uplift. Wander the back roads and trails in the varied scenery, enjoy the evening's pre-cooked dinner and sleep at some of the area's best Bed & Breakfast.
High Coast is a UNESCO declared world heritage site, as it is here that the uplift has increased the most since the last ice age, 286 meters and the increase continues with almost a centimeter each year. This is also a landscape that invites you to comfortable hikes among high mountains, deep valleys, sparkling bays and plenty of wonderful views. Daily stages between the area's B & B’s is 10 to 20 kilometers long, and the hiking package includes the transport of your luggage between the daily stages.
After each completed stage a tasty dinner awaits you. For Example, Lövviks B & B is praised by many hikers, and the original and famous Mannaminne where you can upgrade to a better hotel accommodation.
As the seasons change the scenery of the High Coast changes. In May and June, the birdsong, light green forests and light spring evenings that never seems to end. On hot summer days, Perhaps you dare to cool off in the sea? And after a few life-giving rain pours the first mushrooms start to pop up. Autumn offers almost always plenty of berries and mushrooms along the trail that can be used as an accompaniment to dinner, something that also puts extra flavor to a pleasant and moderately arduous trek through one of our Swedish heritage.
