Guossi – Guest in Sápmi

Get an insight into the contemporary Arctic Sámi lifestyle at the ancient Sámi market and assembly place Márkanbáiki in Jukkasjärvi. Learn more about the indigenous Sámi people who call their traditional homeland Sápmi. You round off your visit by savoring a Sámi meal in a traditional lávvu-tent while sitting around a crackling open fire.

At the banks of the mighty river Torne, you’ll get to know more about the Sámi lifestyle and get answers to questions like: How did the Sámi people live in the past? How did they protect against the cold? What clothes were used? How did they move along in nature? Why did they put salt into the coffee? You get to visit an on-site reindeer corral to get close-up with the reindeer and learn more about how they adapted to the harsh climate in the north.

The Guossi tour also includes duodji (Sámi handicraft) and a slide show about Sámi everyday life during Sápmi’s eight seasons.
