Fishing trek in Fulufjället

Cool down with summer mountain fishing in Fulufjället National Park. You and a few other participants spend a couple days fishing with knowledgeable local guides in a national park teeming with lakes. On the way up, you pass Njupeskär, Sweden's highest waterfall, and then enjoy flora, fauna and fishing high up above the treeline during the long, bright night.

Nordic Footprints’ fishing guides are passionate anglers who can fish in the mountains with both fly and reel. They feel at home among all of Fulufjället’s lakes, small tarns and flowing waterways and know both where to pitch the tent and where to find the best fishing spots. Their invaluable local knowledge allows you and the others members in your private group to focus on enjoying fishing during the lively mornings, quiet evenings and bright summer nights.

The fishing trek’s starting point is the Njupeskär entrance to Fulufjället National Park. From there, the group then walks at a relaxed pace nearly ten kilometres up to the treeline packed with lakes. On the way, you pass Njupeskär, Sweden's highest waterfall, and might even see the world's largest falcon, the Gyrfalcon, among the canyon’s precipitous cliffs. Once at the base camp and surrounded by the lakes filled with trout and char, fishing takes over. Those that wish can fish around the clock. But, everyone is recommended to try at least a few hours of fishing during the light summer nights, when the bigger fish are more willing to bite.

The food, including freshly caught trout, is cooked with the guides who also are experienced wilderness chefs. The group sleeps in a single large tent, and from here they make private or joint fishing trips for a few hours. If you want more privacy, a private tent can be booked for an additional charge.

These days spent fishing on one of our southernmost mountains six hours from Stockholm are suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. For those who have never been fly fishing before, we recommend a basic fly fishing course in casting technique the day before. Nordic Footprints also has a wide selection of equipment for hire, such as waders, backpacks and complete fishing equipment. Why not try your hand at an exclusive summer adventure with wonderful experiences above the treeline? You are welcome as you are, without a mountain of your own equipment.
