Canoeing in the Svartådalen valley
A canoeing trip for two, the family or a group of close friends, through the gentle, flat landscape of the Svartådalen valley, with plenty time for picnics and relaxation. The activity also includes exquisite culinary experiences based on local delicacies and two comfortable nights in a newly renovated 18th century cottage or in Edens Gardens more spacious villa.
The canoeing, downstream at a relaxed pace and with three different options of varying length, is of course the highlight of the journey. The shortest route is about 10 km and takes no more than three hours, while the more energetic can choose a starting point that lies further upstream from Edens Garden.
In spring guests can enjoy the vibrant greenery, excited birdsong, the chance to spot both white-tailed eagle and black tern and maybe also attend the evening concert of the corncrake. In the summer, canoeing can easily be combined with swimming and a long, relaxing break at Ebba Brahe's pavilion in the middle of Fläck lake or at other suitable stopping points. Then in the autumn the cranes pass on their journey southwards, bringing clear and fresh air from the north. This is a season of stunning colours and the chance to combine canoeing with a spot of mushroom- and berry-picking in the forest.
But canoeing across the Fläck lake and down the Svartån river is also a way of enjoying local delicacies, for example an evening barbecue on the riverbank with vegetable skewers, hamburgers made from the organic meat of local cattle, fresh bread and traditional small beer. Everything elegantly prepared for an outdoor feast, with candles and reindeer skins. The same applies to the snack on arrival, the picnic basket for the journey, or the late breakfast buffet that you wake up to after the second night.
The activity also includes two comfortable nights in a newly renovated cosy 18th century cottage or in a more spacious villa. The comfort and a warm welcome add to the experience. All this contributes to a couple of days where you eat and sleep well, and get very close to nature.
