Operating in northern Bohuslän and Sweden’s newest national park, Kosterhavet, Selin Charter offers a broad range of easily-accessible boat trips. The boat leaves from Strömstad close to the Norwegian border, headed for destinations such as Sweden’s most westerly lighthouse, Ursholmen, and the small islets of the Koster archipelago where many seal colonies are found. Also popular is the lobster safari in the autumn, where the trip is combined with a tasty seafood supper.

Helena Lantz and Stephan Selin, who have been running Selin Charter for more than ten years, both grew up in northern Bohuslän. They are very familiar with the sea around the islands of North and South Koster that is now part of the Kosterhavet Marine National Park, and have taken visitors on hundreds of trips to the Ursholmen lighthouse.

Selin Charter works closely with the National Park management on its tourist activities, and also participates regularly in meetings and various educational programmes. The latter are often arranged by the Tjärnö Marine Biology Laboratory.

The company is very engaged in the local area, and serves fresh newly-boiled shrimps from the Koster Sea, seaweed-flavored crispbread from Grebbestad and local beer from northern Bohuslän on its boat trips.

The company’s boat, the m/s Sara, with room for 50 passengers, was recently fitted with a modern, green diesel engine. No wastewater is emptied into the Koster Sea, and is properly disposed of at the harbor in Strömstad.

Selin Charter is also a company that actively tries to develop and broaden the range of exciting activities in the Kosterhavet National Park. One example is development of technologies and methods for showing the unique underwater environments in the National Park using an underwater camera. Collaborating with hotels in the region, lobster safaris have been arranged for several years in combination with seafood dinners and comfortable accommodation.
