When a group of people faces the task of jointly solving different problems out in the natural world, something happens. The participants gain better knowledge both of themselves and of each other.
This is something that John and Marie Savelid, who run this company, know a lot about, since 1996 they have helped many companies and organizations to establish effective collaboration between flourishing colleagues and leaders. An essential part of the whole process is simply experience-based learning, in which the group jointly solves problems in the great outdoors. Exercises in cooperation such as raft building or finding your way with a map and a compass or a GPS device.
Combining activities with theory develops cooperation and communication. The participants gain insight, not only into their own and others’ personality and expertise but also into how they can complement one another. Keeping fit and healthy is another important part of the activity and is a natural part of most of the exercises. A sense of community is reinforced by the participants’ shared experience of nature. The company is based in the city of Linköping. The business has expanded gradually, and today John and Marie work full time with group development and outdoor activities in various locations in the country.
The labelling comittes statement
Labelling Committee´s motivation (24 May 2004)
One of Östergötland’s best-known conference organizers wants to use ecotourism to entice business clients out into nature. Quality, safety and a close relationship with the client characterize this conference package with outdoor activities such as climbing, cave-exploring, orienteering exercises and sleeping out in the fresh air.
Nature is actively protected through contributions to Östergötland’s oak landscape fund and when participants themselves set up nesting-boxes in for example, the Rimforsa area.
