Fredros Gård is situated within the fish preservation area of the Mangen-Treen lakes, in the region of western Värmland. This area has three larger lakes and around 30 smaller ones, constituting 750 hectares of fishing water in all.
The fish here have not been stocked in the lakes, these waters are their natural habitat. Here, anglers mainly catch pike, perch and brown trout. The three larger lakes are known for large pike and perch. Anglers from several countries have already found their way to this paradise. The basic philosophy of the company is to let the guests look after themselves as far as possible, but there are experienced local guides on hand to provide personal advice and information on for example fishing methods, choice of bait, good fishing spots, and “interpretation” of the local fishing waters. In order to preserve the small-scale atmosphere, Fredros has chosen to build just four cottages and two tourist apartments. There is a sauna close to the cottages, as well as a laundry and drying room.
Fredros Gård recently invested in environment friendly 4-stroke outboard engines. For a long time the company has been working actively to ensure sustainable fishing in the area. The fishing works on a “catch and release” basis, i.e. the fish that are caught have to be let back into the water. As a guest, however, you are allowed to eat from your catch during your stay.
