A love of nature and close encounters with wild animals have always been core motivations for Nordic Safari. When designing tours the company draws on a deep knowledge of nature gathered over many years of exploring the forests of Bergslagen.
Three friends: Kim Lill, Lars Gabrielsson and Mattias Zettergren have been brought together by their love of nature and photography. Together they own Nordic Safari and whenever possible they can be found out in the field photographing, guiding and developing ideas for inspirational nature encounters. Lars and Mattias are also the founders of the organization Naturfoto Västmanland.
Collectively and by themselves, they have spent years stalking, hiding, and silently waiting for their photographic quarry. Patiently researching the prime seasons, waiting for the best light and the right angle and developing comfortable well-positioned hides are essential if clients are to catch the essence of moose, beaver, wolf, fox and black grouse on film. After years of research, they’re pretty good at identifying what is needed to make a hide productive. Their systematic research and backcountry skills combine with an excellent network of birding enthusiasts to create unforgettable moments in the wilderness.
They all have a genuine enthusiasm, knowledge of, and respect for birds, and have adopted a sustainable tourism policy that ensures their target bird species are not disturbed or their natural behaviour impacted. By gathering data with bird ringing organizations and helping to put up nesting boxes for owls in cooperation with Sveaskog Forest Company, they help work towards a system where timber companies and thriving wildlife can coexist. They are also keen advocates for sustainable forestry methods and for preserving the nature-rich forests of Bergslagen.
Nordic Safari cooperates closely with a number of charming accommodation providers. Among them is the renowned Ulfsbomuren known for its inspiring atmosphere, local character, and high-quality cuisine.
